Remove Status Posts or Set to Standard

What is the best way to "Remove" the status post option or set the status posts to just be standard posts? I have a Twitter plugin that is importing in tweets and they are somehow automatically going to "status". I need them to just be standard so the featured thumbnail will appear.

Can you please direct me to the proper solution?
